How to properly configure Windows XP firewall?

Can someone tell me how to with step-by-step instructions? How to properly configure Windows XP firewall?
XP firewall is garbage it not as good as you think

there are a few free and excellent firewalls (hardly people use the XP Firewall)

- Comodo Firewall Pro- http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/d鈥?/a>How to properly configure Windows XP firewall?
go to the start menu and click on control panel on the right. In control panel, click on Security. Then in Security, click on Windows Firewall. Then click change settings. In the window that pops up, turn the firewall on. click apply, then ok.

By the way, windows firewall only protects against incoming threats, not outgoing threats. So it's only doing half the job a firewall's supposed to. download zonealarm's free firewall, it's pretty good.
What is there to let Windows XP firewall enabled?

Only if you want some holes in the firewalls for your ftp, media player etc, then you have to do something.

Usually, the firewall asks you if you want to let any program access internet. You have to click 'Unblock' to let it access.

That would be a safer way rather than tweaking the 'Exceptions' tab.
