Trigonometry help, just need formulas and/or shown how to with answer?

ok so i need to draw a triangle so im just gunna label the points and lengths

Solve ABC. round your answers to 1 decimal point

BC= 12 cm (which is straight up to down)

AC= 16 cm (which is bottom left to right)

AB= ??? how do i find the longest part of the triangle

i hope that made sense. hard to explain without drawingTrigonometry help, just need formulas and/or shown how to with answer?
u mean it is a right triangle

so by pythagoras theorem

(base)^2 + (altitude)^2 = (hypotenuse)^2

=%26gt; AC^2 + BC^2 = AB^2

as AC= 16 cm (which is bottom left to right) = base

%26amp; BC= 12 cm (which is straight up to down)= altitude = height

=%26gt; 16^2 +12^2 = AB^2

=%26gt; 256 + 144 = AB^2

=%26gt; 400 = AB^2

=%26gt; 20 = AB longest sideTrigonometry help, just need formulas and/or shown how to with answer?
You would use the Pythagorean Formula (a squared plus b squared equals c squared). From your description, you have side lengths A and B, and you need hypotenuse C. Therefore, you would square both A and B, then add them together and take the square root of that. Whatever that number is is the length of side C.
Sounds as if you have a right triangle.

Use Pythagorean Theoem to solve

(AB)虏 = 12虏 + 16虏

(AB)虏 = 400

AB = 20 cm

.
Its a right angled Triangle

Use Pythagoras theorem

AB ^2 = BC^2 + AC^2

= 16 ^2 + 12 ^2

= 256 + 144

AB ^2 = 400

AB = 20 cm
hypotenuse(longest side of the triangle)

now BC^2 + AC^2 = AB^2

its called the pythagorean theorem but its only applicable for right triangles... research it.... there are more details on the net...
a^2 + b^2 = c^2

12^2 + 16^2 = c^2

144 + 256 = c^2

400 = c^2

20 = c

(Also, it's a 3-4-5 triangle, if you didn't notice)
A squared plus b squared=c squared-144 + 256=400 now take 400 and find the square root=20
a^2 + B^2 = C^2 right?

144 + 256 = 400

the square root of 400 = 20

AB = 20cm
