How to with a sony a100?

i would like to know how to take a picture of my friends car as he is driving and i am driving next to him and take a picture so his car is focused and looks like its not moving and the rest of everything is blurred

Well the example you showed uses a technique called panning. The photographer that took that particular photo was probably stationary. The camera tracked the car while the shutter was open so the car appears sharp, but the shutter speed was slow enough to blur the surroundings.

To recreate this effect you'll need a tripod, monopod, or a stable surface and a slow shutter speed on which you can fluidly track the moving car. How slow the shutter should be depends on the streak effect you want, the available light, the distance between the camera and the car, the focal length of the lens, and the speed of the car.How to with a sony a100?
Easy and if you had though it over you would have eventually figured it out.





Relatively slow shutter speed, 1/15th or slower and panning with the action as you take the shot.
