On a pc (dell), how do i do all of the weired simbeles like i can do with a mac?

well, i found out i can make alot of symbels with a mac, but dont know how to with a pc. on a mac i just held cntrl or alt and typed. so how do i do it? ThxOn a pc (dell), how do i do all of the weired simbeles like i can do with a mac?
